Tree in the middle of Hyatt Lake
Slowly does it every time!
It’s not too late to sign up for this year’s Monster Dash to benefit the Ashland School’s Foundation. Race day this year is October 26.
Allison and Victor play tonight at The Playwright Public House
One spring day
I have been posting a lot of people pics recently. Today I plucked one from the archives without any humans visible in it. Wrong season, I know, but it’s fun sometimes to see what things will again look like in six months.
Ashland Halloween Parade 2013
This year’s parade will be on Halloween beginning at 3:30. Last year I had a class to teach at that time so I missed it, but I will try to be there this year. Today’s photo is from the 2011 parade.
Monster Dash Pre-Race Pasta Party
Tonight is the annual pre-race pasta party at the Historic Ashland Armory. Feel free to just show up and pay at the door. You don’t need to be in the race tomorrow to come and eat tonight. The meal isn’t expensive, and all proceeds go to a great cause.
Ashland’s vineyards
You wouldn’t know it from all of the vineyards that have sprung up in California and Oregon over the past decade, but we are supposedly in the middle of a wine shortage that will only become worse in the future.
Today’s photo is from June of 2011.
California dreaming
We are heading to Southern California for Christmas this year. It has been more than a year and a half since I have been there (when I took today’s photo), and it will be the first time I have been to Santa Barbara, which is where we will be staying. Hopefully the weather is at least seasonably warm, with maybe even a little unseasonably warmness thrown in for good measure.
In Flames @ Medford Armory
In Flames has a new album coming out soon. Hopefully they will come to Southern Oregon on their next tour to support their next release.
PCT near Brown Mountain
The Pacific Crest Trail is poised to become super famous thanks to the Reese Witherspoon movie (Wild) coming out this year. Today’s photo is a little piece of the Southern Oregon portion from a few summers ago.
View of Mount McLoughlin from High Lakes Trail
Yesterday was the first warm day we have had in months, and it almost felt like the day when I took this photo (my random, desktop photo of the day) back in the summer of 2011. I went on a bike ride and saw just a touch of snow on Mt. Ashland, extremely rare for this time of year. I’m guessing there isn’t much on Mount McLoughlin either given the nearly snowless winter we are experiencing.
East Ashland from Dead Indian Memorial Road
Rob Caggiano visits Southern Oregon in three days
This Thursday night will be the third time I’ve seen Rob Caggiano on stage, but it will be the first time with Volbeat.
AHS Class of 2014 Graduation in Lithia Park
Castle Crags
Today’s photo is from nearly two years ago. We weren’t really hinking Castle Crags (in the background to the right), but the views of Castle Crags from this location were fantastic. For more on how to get to today’s photo spot see this prior post.
2014 Ashland 4th of July rules
You can’t save places to watch the parade before 6 a.m. on July 3. The parade begins at 10:15 a.m. (on July 4 of course) from the library.
There are no legal fireworks in Ashland (even if they are legal in other parts of the state).
There will be a fireworks display at 10 p.m. shot from the normal location on Iowa Street.
